A special announcement from McMinnville Women’s Choir

Our summer picnic/potluck was such a joy — a huge thank you to Marsha Mackie for graciously hosting us at her beautiful home! It was so much fun to gather, reconnect, and share laughter with our singing sisters. A few pictures can be seen below (scroll down!).  We missed those of you who weren’t able to make it, but we do want to share the news!!

Over the last 5 years, like with many non-profits in this tumultuous time, there have been a number of ups and downs in the choir’s finances. This year, it became clear the choir could not afford both musicians at our current salary level so the leadership team and Betty and Bethany started brainstorming some options for moving forward.

Also over the last few years, Betty has watched Bethany’s creativity and leadership blooming and it became clear to Betty that the most creative and viable option would be to transition the conductorship of the choir to Bethany.

The choir will still be connected to Jubilate in Corvallis and supported by the structure and resources of the umbrella organization Music for All Corvallis. And Betty will offer support and wisdom in the transition as well from her deep well of skill and experience. So starting this fall, Bethany will be assuming the artistic director position.

We’re still working out some of the details of the transition but we’re excited about the new possibilities this offers the community. And we are deeply, deeply grateful to Betty for her vision and energy that founded and sustained the choir for so many years and will continue to be a gift as we take this next step.

As always, we’ll be needing a strong group of singers to make this season work and would love to have your support during this time. We need people to sing with us and people to spread the word. By the way, here, conveniently, is the link to the Fall 2025 Membership and Contribution Form. And we would not turn down extra donations to help with the transition!
